Join us for Inclusion International’s 17th World Congress, Learn, Inspire, Lead, in Birmingham, UK, 30 May – 1 June 2018. The World Congress is organised by Inclusion International and Inclusion Europe, and is proudly sponsored by Mencap.
The World Congress will bring together our global network of people with intellectual disabilities and families who work to promote inclusion. Together we will learn, inspire, and lead the way in making inclusion a reality for people with intellectual disabilities and their families around the world.
Programme
Our programme is taking shape and we are excited that Learn, Inspire, Lead will profile promising practices and examples in inclusion. Sessions will provide participants with opportunities to:
- Learn and share experiences from around the world about priority issues for people with intellectual disabilities and their families.
- Inspire and be inspired by sharing success stories, new ideas and new ways of working for inclusive policy, programs, and practices.
- Lead the way as a global movement in promoting inclusive communities for all.
Learn, Inspire, Lead will have a fun social programme and provide valuable opportunities for networking and connecting with self-advocates and families from around the world. Most of all, it will be a chance to connect with old friends and make new ones.
We are honoured that our World Congress will also host Europe in Action to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Inclusion Europe. Additionally, we will be hosting our General Assembly on 2 June, 2018; the Inclusion Europe General Assembly (31 May); and, the European Platform of Self-Advocates General meeting (30 May).
A full programme will be announced nearer the event, including speakers and workshops – stay tuned!
Who is the event for?
Anyone who has an interest in inclusion or works for an inclusive organisation is welcome, including:
- People with intellectual disabilities and their families
- Members of Inclusion International
- Partner organisations, DPOs, NGOs, and funders
- Professionals and practitioners in the field of disability, international development, and humanitarian aid
- Anyone interested in inclusive policy and practice
Your participation matters to us! Your voice and your experience will help to enrich our discussions and help strengthen our movement. Join families, self-advocates, disability rights activists, professionals, and allies to learn, inspire, and lead the change for an inclusive world for all. Inclusion International
Inclusion International is the international network of people with intellectual disabilities and their families advocating for the human rights of people with intellectual disabilities worldwide. With over 200 members in 115 countries, we work to promote the social, cultural, economic, and political rights of people with intellectual disabilities. Together our members agree on a Statement of Unity and are committeed to progress toward Inclusion International’s vision of a world where people with intellectual disabilities and their families can equally participate and be valued in all aspects of community life. II is an assembly of the voices of persons with intellectual disabilities and their families that promotes shared values of respect, diversity, human rights, solidarity and inclusion.
